2009 makes it a back-to-back championship win for the PETRONAS Syntium Team, following the team's title win in 2008.

This year the team were able to record another milestone for one of its drivers in the No. 1 BMW Z4M Coupe with Malaysian Fariqe Hairuman becoming the first Malaysian to win a major endurance series in Japan.

Having had the experience of racing in the Korean round in the series in 1999, the 2009 challenge has fielded a driver line-up featuring Fariqe Hairuman, Melvin Moh Chun-Ho, Imran Shahrom, Japanese driver Masataka Yanagida, Nobuteru Taniguchi and Tatsuya Kataoka.

The PETRONAS SYNTIUM TEAM has lead the challenge in the series with 2 x BMW Z4 M Coupes.
